Kate May

Director, Business Development and Events

Kate is an accomplished event manager, creative strategist, and business development professional with 15 years of experience in the creative industries. Her career spans a variety of sectors, including cultural venues, commercial agencies, live events, charities, and private clients.

Kate manages the business development and events portfolio for the Counterculture team as well as delivering client work. During her time with Counterculture, Kate has worked on live music tours, a programme of events for the Greater London Authority (GLA), artist management and brand development, Events Business models to create new revenue streams for cultural organisations and stakeholder consultation to inform place-based Cultural Strategies.

Before joining Counterculture, Kate held positions at the ICA, Tyneside Cinema, Northern Stage, Theatre Royal Newcastle, and Centre for Life. She is highly skilled in taking projects from initial concept to execution, working closely with clients across a broad range of industries. Her diverse portfolio includes managing fashion presentations at London Fashion Week, delivering live social media content from the BAFTAs, and coordinating bespoke Weddings.

Her past clients include Bruce Springsteen, The Royal Household, the BBC, and the British Fashion Council.

Kate is a native Northerner but now lives by the sea in Brighton and Hove. Kate is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA).
